2013

I hadn't noticed it had been so long since I had last posted. Life is so busy. So much has happened since I last posted .
Matthew and Heather are doing great. We made the very hard decision to move Heather out of her school. So many little things where happening that we we unhappy about so we finally decided enough was enough. I am so sorry I didn't do it a long time ago the difference in her is wonderful to see. She has read books she would not have even attempted before , made friends with some lovely children and she in herself is much happier.
Matthew makes us so proud every day , he is growing into a wonderful young man, and becoming more like Ian each day.
Ian has had a really rough two years with work. Hes been in and out of work and finally had to start contract work which meant no holidays , and low pay. We have managed due to us massively cutting back and forgoing our family holiday. But we have each other and a roof over our heads.
On Monday of this week Ian began a new permanent job so hopefully onwards and upwards.
At the end of last year my dear wonderful dad was diagnosed with bowl cancer, with my sister passing away 7 years ago from bowl cancer the news really hit a cord with us all. It was heart breaking to sit with him whilst the doctor told him . He cant have any treatment due to other health issues so hes managing on his own. He has been so strong, don't get me wrong there have been low points and plenty of tears but he is a very strong and positive loving man. It has been so hard watching his strengh leaving him and seeing him in pain.
Last year just before christmas we finally decided to get a dog. Hes called crackers and hes a english springer spaniel. We got him from a rescue shelter . hes still nervous and getting used to us but hes as daft as a brush.
I will make a big effort to post more this year.
Take care xx

Life's Good
I've been talking to an old friend lately who has been thinking about which way life is going,it just got me thinking how lucky I am. So many people comment to me how unusual my relationship is. Is it that hard to be with the same person for 22 years. I don't think so. I don't ever remember stopping and thinking is this what I want with the rest of my life. Of course it is ,so yes maybe it is unusual but that's sad. I can't judge other people and never would. Each and every one of us wants something different from a relationship I have just been so lucky to have found it in Ian. I thank god every day for what we have together. he's my best friend,my sole mate.

Now I am here I am not sure what to write, its funny I had this idea of posting something but no idea what.
The children are doing great Matthew is now 11 very nearly 12 ,hes started secondary school and thank goodness we managed to get him into a decent school. Hes making us proud every day. Heather is now 7, very lively and very girly.
Ian and myself are physically good but mentally who knows . We both have had lots of knocks regarding work and at the moment we are finding it hard to see light at the end of the tunnel. But as we keep saying to each other "we still have our home each other and the children".
Long suffering readers out there will know about the case regarding my sisters death and the hospital well that's still on going but moving along. We have recently had lots of unpleasant paper work to read which has stirred up lots of memories. But hopefully soon it will be worth the fight.
I am now into the fifth week of a counselling course. Its an 11 week course with an exam at the end. Then I can go onto another 11 week course then a year course after that , So its a long haul but at the moment I am really enjoying it, its strange being back in a class room and doing homework but so far so good.

This isn't going to be a long post.

Were off on our holidays tomorrow , the kids are so excited . They have been counting down the days for so long. I am sure there will be lots of pics to share when we get back.
I had to go to the doctors this morning its my second visit to try and sort my neck out. Its so painful. The first time I was given VERY strong painkillers which didn't agree with me and to day to my amazement I was given acupuncture . The kids were with me so got a little freaked out watching the doc stick needles in there mum especially Heather poor thing. I have to say though it does seem a little easier. So hopefully a happy pain free time will be had by all.
Take care.

Matthew

A long time back he wrote a poem about Blue Peter (a children's TV show which he loves to watch) and sent it to them. Weeks later he made his annual and sent then a copy as it had a page all about them. Well, months later he received a letter saying he hadn't sent all the relevant details for them to send him a badge - he jumped, shouted and whooped. He immediately sent the information and waited every day for the post to come. Eventually a letter addressed for Matthew arrived - it was the much wanted Blue Peter badge. The badge was taken to school, family were shown it, or phone calls were made to tell people about it. We were so proud for him. Weeks later another letter from Blue Peter arrived and Matthew tore it open to find another badge - this time a silver one. It was sent because he has sent two things in to them and they said they were very impressed with his work. He was so proud.

I don't know anybody who has ever won a Blue Peter badge. As a child I longed for one - not that I ever done anything to be awarded one for!
My Mum and Dad.

Their health isn't what it used to be. Dad's been in hospital a few times with problems with his legs and has now been told he needs vascular surgery. I think the biggest thing that hit him was he was told not to drive any more.

Mum also has been ill and had lots of courses of steroids for her chest. But all praise to them both, they have cut down drastically on smoking. Mum has been putting the money she would have used to buy the horrid things in a jar. She is now onto jar two and has a nice little pot of money to do with as she wishes.

I know I can't say too much about this but the case for Donna against the hospital is going very well. We have been told there is a case to answer to which in itself makes me feel sick but any compensation will go into trust for the kids future. At the moment letters have been sent to the hospital and we are waiting to here from them, the ball is in there court so to speak.
Its certainly been a while since I sat down and wrote so this may go on or I might be sensible and post over the next few days.

Because of how Donna died all of our family was advised to go for screening. Both mum and dad said they were to old and would rather not know, my brother buried his head in the sand but I went it wasn't pleasant to say the least but it was necessary. I got the all clear, waiting for the results was so emotional, so many thoughts going through your head, so many what ifs.
I reluctantly persuaded my other sister to go and today she is having her tests, so my thoughts are with her its not until this afternoon so its going to be a long day.

Good luck Shell.

RACE FOR LIFE
My race for life widget has gone. I noticed the other day but have been too busy to do anything about it. I have tried tonight but I think its a problem at their end. I got a lovely surprise when checking my on line target when I found that it has been reached! So a very big thank you to those of you who have been kind enough to donate. You can still sponsor me if you feel so inclined by going to www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/Jo1.
Thanks again for your support.
